Introduction
The Dutch Braid is great for any occasion.  Your subject's hair should be shoulder length or longer. Long layers in the hair are fine. The Dutch Braid is also known as the Inverted 3-strand.

Detailed Instructions

  1. Note: Outer to middle, going underneath the middle strand. Section at hair line, one inch wide, one inch deep. Part into three sections, grabbing the right side outer strand in palm of hand, putting middle strand in between pointer and middle finger.

  2. Slide the left outer strand underneath the middle with your pointer finger.

  3. The strand on top becomes the left strand. Grab with palm of left hand. Put middle strand between pointer finger and middle finger.

  4. Slide outer strand under with middle finger. This is where you would add your triangular pick up, with your free hand.

  5. Section thinner to wider, adding under your pointer finger. Repeat the step above (outer to middle going underneath the middle strand).
